So to begin making a logo..

Out of these typefaces I think I like the 9th one down. It is quite fun to relate to the children Also quite easy to read.

To actually achieve children's interest in growing veg I needed to find out what veg they actually like most and can focus on them.

I found this survey done on the internet which is very helpful:

Apples, spuds and roast dinners top of the class with children, new survey reveals

03/09/2004

Roast dinners, apples and spuds come out on top as the firm favourites with children when it comes to what they like to eat, with curries, sprouts and pineapples at the bottom of the pile, according to a new survey released today by The Stroke Association.

The Stroke Association conducted a survey of children aged 4 to 16 years old to understand what foods they polished off their plates, how often, and what they pushed to one side. The survey sampled over 900 children across England and Wales over eight weeks.

The survey was conducted as part of The Stroke Association's forthcoming Stroke Awareness Week, which runs from 4th-10th October 2004. This year's theme is 'Eat a Rainbow-Beat a Stroke' and is particularly aimed at children aged 4-11 years old. Eating at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day has been shown to reduce a person's risk of stroke by a third. Stroke Awareness Week aims to help children understand the benefits of eating a colourful diet full of fruit and vegetables and gives them the tools to do it.

Summarising the questions asked:

2. 20% of respondents chose Grapes
3. 12% of respondents chose Bananas

For this crit I was with Arran, Will and Ben and i got a lot of constructive criticism which focussed my idea and also gave me different ways to take the project and things to think about. Overall was a really good crit and I came out with a lot to think about.

Chosen brief & Ideas.

Thursday, 5 May 2011

So to gather some inspiration i headed to Homebase in search of an idea of what was already out there and what kind of products they sell for kids.

I found a really small section for kids! So there is my opportunity!

From my visit I found the actual winner f the briefs designs for the original brief I had chosen to edit.

From this it gave me many extra ideas along with the in-store section for the kids such as:

Glove packaging
Little tubs to take home
Possibly a bag?
Web 3

To begin with Dreamweaver will not open your page, you then have to click Manage site - Edit. Then link dreamweaver back to the root folder.

As we now have our main page, we want to create the other pages of the website. However instead of creating 5 more separate pages and going through the process again, you can convert the page into a Template.

When saving rename as the template.
Once the main section of which you had clicked in and converted to a template is done it will have have this type below:

Even though the page has been changed to a template it still states that it is a HTML page.. which we do not want we want it to be a .DWT (dreamweaver template) so you must save the template and name in template.

This will then appear in the files column in the right hand corner.

Then by making the page a template, you can go to File - New - Page from template. This then creates an identical page to the template.

For the first new page save it as index to replace the initial index.

Then you create 5 more pages for your website in the same way.. File - New - Page from template.
Then make sure you then save them as the page name etc Work.

It should then look like this at the top of the page:

Then to linking the pages. You click on the first page then in properties there is a little box called link, you can either click on the file next to it and find the page you want to link it too. Or you can use the target next to it and drag that to the page you want in the files column in the right hand bottom corner.

And repeat this for all the other pages.

Once you have linked the pages, then go to File - Save All. Then you will see this message below:

Click update then this message below will come up then click close.

If you copy and paste text into the coding it won't keep the formatting, if you paste it into the design it will.

If you want the text in a certain area on the page you just create a table then paste the type into there and edit the padding. By editing the padding it will make the text further away from the outline of the table.

To change the font highlight it - Properties bar - page properties - change font and size.

For the heading it is different:

Highlight - Properties - Page properties - Headings ( CSS) - change font and size THEN properties bar - Format - Heading
Also the type will automatically align the font in the centre of the page in the properties bar you can go to vertical and align at the top.

When putting images onto the webpage - make sure they are all the right size saved at 72dpi and as a png.
